CHE Master’s Ranking: WHU Receives Excellent Marks from Students

WHU has reached the top tier in a nationwide comparison

In the 2023 nationwide university ranking for master’s degree programs in the field of business administration recently published by CHE (Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung), WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management has made it to the top tier, sitting alongside other business schools that have achieved consistently high marks.

Eighty-eight out of a total of 398 master’s students from WHU took part in the survey, rating the academic conditions at the university in ten different categories. They rated WHU as particularly outstanding in several categories, including “general study conditions” (4.9 out of 5), “study organization” (4.9), “practical orientation of teaching” (4.9), “courses offered” (4.8), “support during studies” (4.8), “digital teaching elements” (4.8), “research orientation” (4.8), and “supervision” (4.8). WHU also scored very well in the categories “support for study abroad” (4.7) and “transition between bachelor’s and master’s degree” (4.7). With these results, WHU’s master’s programs are well above the average score of the offerings from all other universities in this ranking (4.2 – 4.5).

“This extraordinarily good feedback shows us that the students are not only extremely satisfied with the program, but also with the university as a whole,” says Professor Christian Andres, Dean of WHU. “The top marks that our students have given us in certain categories confirm that WHU consistently offers excellent teaching and the best study conditions.”

The master’s ranking is part of the CHE University Ranking, which regularly evaluates more than 300 colleges and universities of applied sciences in Germany. More than 120,000 students are surveyed. The ranking analyzes the raw data on academics, teaching, and research, as well as the students’ own opinions on the study conditions at their university. Unlike other German and English-language rankings, it classifies schools into specific tier (top, middle, and bottom). Degree program are only examined individually every three to four years; the previous edition of the CHE master’s ranking was published in 2020.
