This module provides an overview and critical discussion of financial reporting. The focus of the module will be the financial reporting (and capital market communication) of internationally active and publicly traded companies, but we will also address the specific situation of young, innovative start-up companies, with a special emphasis on the reporting for intangible assets. Students will become familiar with the conceptual basis and the most important topic areas of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Theories covered in this course include accounting theory, financial and information economics, and agency theory.
