Outline:

1. Decision making under risk and uncertainty 2. Entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship 3. The entrepreneurial process 4. Opportunity recognition and strategy formulation 5. Resource requirements and building a network 6. Creating a business plan 7. Personnel management in start-ups 8. Entrepreneurial finance 9. Entrepreneurial marketing 10. Growth management and the harvest

The course provides participants with a theoretical background on entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship. It provides participants with practical advice and empirical knowledge to develop their entrepreneurial mindsets. The course discusses how to spot business opportunities, how to evaluate risks, as well as the preparation of business plans. The focus of the analysis lies on the entrepreneurial process and the decisions to be taken at each phase of a start-up’s development. Participants will discuss various real business concepts. They also report on personal experiences and problems with their start-ups.

  • The course will combine lectures and discussions. Participants will also have to work on case studies.

Written Examination, Case Study Work

The course grade will be based on the quality of the team work on four case studies (50 %) and a final take-home exam (50 %).
