First, develop an understanding of key psychological principles and processes underlying individuals’ behavior, decision making, and personal experiences (i.e., the “Why” of how people act, react, think and feel). Second, transferring such psychological knowledge to the business context, being able to shape peoples’ preferences and behaviors in a constructive and socially responsible manner (e.g., creating attractive brands, establishing effective customer-firm relationships, facilitating both high-level performance and experienced well-being at the workplace).
There are no mandatory readings. Relevant background literature is referenced in the lecture slides for purposes of theoretical substantiation. In consequence, students are not expected to review or even look at these background readings to be able to succeed in this class. At the same time, students often find the identified resources helpful if they decide to study any of the respective topics in greater depth at some point (e.g., when working on a degree thesis or other research project).
