Academic Research and Writing
In der Veranstaltung sollen den Studenten Kenntnisse vermittelt werden, nach denen wissenschaftliche Studien (z.B. auch Ihre Abschlussarbeit) relevant und rigoros durchgeführt werden. Im Rahmen der Veranstaltung sollen Sie daher ein Verständnis für die Suche nach und Nutzung von bisherigen Forschungsbeiträgen entwickeln, mögliche eigene Beiträge ("contributions") formulieren, ausarbeiten und verstehen sowie verstehen wie sich Entscheidungen über das Forschungsdesign auf ein Forschungsprojekt auswirken.

Kursinhalt
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to scientific research in economics and business and the essential elements of academic writing. It covers all stages of the research process, including, but not limited to, motivating a compelling research question, writing a literature review, formulating hypotheses, reporting your results, and drawing conclusions. With a focus on practical tools and techniques, you will learn to quickly recognize research methodologies in academic articles and how to conduct effective literature searches. Along the way, you will learn about common student traps and how to avoid them. The course will also address formal aspects of thesis writing, including properly citing references in the APA style. Whether you are a student seeking to produce an outstanding thesis or simply interested in learning more about research and academic writing, this course is an excellent choice.
